Marko Mustonen

Marko Mustonen (born 1984) started playing the piano at the age of 4 and is currently studying at the Yale University School of Music with Professor Boris Berman. He graduated from Sibelius-Academy, Helsinki, in 2007 where his teachers were Professors Erik T. Tawaststjerna and Teppo Koivisto. He has also studied with Bernard Ringeissen in Paris. Marko Mustonen has taken part in e.g. Andras Schiff’s, Leon Fleisher’s and Arie Vardi’s masterclasses. Mr. Mustonen has performed in many European countries, in Morocco and in the USA. He has been a piano soloist with different orchestras, such as the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra. Marko Mustonen has also performed chamber music with e.g. cellist Torleif Thedeen and violinist-conductor Jan Söderblom. In 2008 Mustonen performs, except in Finland, also e.g. in Denmark, Sweden and Germany with recitals and as a soloist with orchestras.He has been a prize winner at several national and international piano competitions, e.g. 1st prize in the major National piano competition of Jyväskylä in 2007 in Finland, 4th prize in the International Maj Lind Piano Competition in 2007 and 1st prize in the 8th Nordic Piano Competition in July 2007 in Denmark. Mustonen has appeared frequently on the national radio and TV broadcasts.
