Aurora Master Class – Vocal
Important information for vocal applicants
This course will focus on interpretation, vocal and musical coaching as well as any other subjects relevant to the students.
The students will participate and interact together in master classes led by Charlotte Hellekant.
Both female and male singers are welcome to apply for the course.
Aurora will provide the coaching’s/master classes with piano accompanists.
Depending on voice, repertoire and logistics, there will be occasional possibilities to study and perform vocal chamber music together with other participants of the festival.
The vocal chamber groups will be decided by the artistic direction of Aurora.
These selected singers and chamber groups will have individual coaching’s with Charlotte Hellekant and possible other professors at the festival.
The master classes usually have a small audience of other course participants, usually 5-10 people.
The students should have prepared one piece from at least 3 of these 5 categories:
1. Songs: From the Recital Repertoire; German Lieder, French Mélodies, Scandinavian Romanser, Spanish, etc.
2. Concert Repertoire with Orchestra ex: Strauss’ ”Vier Letze Lieder”, Mahler’s song cycles, Berlioz’ ”Les Nuits d’Eté”, Mozart Concert Arias, etc)
3. Oratorio (this counts as Vocal Chamber Music if accompanied by one or more obbligato instrument)
5. Vocal Chamber Music (definition: a piece accompanied by one or more instruments, with or without, piano; ex for soprano, clarinet and piano: ”Der Hirt auf den Felsen D.965; for voice and string quartet: Samuel Barber’s ”Dover Beach, Op.3”; for voice, violin, cello and piano: Beethovens: ”Folksongs”).
We ask the applicants to suggest three different Vocal Chamber Music pieces from which Aurora then will make a selection according to the criteria’s mentioned above.
Please write this suggestions in the application form in the box for ”CV and Audition”
If you need suggestions in this category feel free to contact us.
The selections and legible copies of the scores should be sent to Aurora by June 20th.
Selected participants will perform in front of public in concerts during the festival.
